What do you think of afghanistans "suprising" mineral deposits?

CURRENTLY IN AFGHANISTAN, and I've been all over Afghanistan and one thing is true, they have always been rich in mineral resources. Currently the Chinese have mines set up here, and the success they have shown has had the US scrambling to catch up (as always). Previously the extraction techniques by the Afghans (TNT) produced LOW YIELD (tiny splintered stones) product resulting in low capital. However with the implementation of "tip of the spear" extraction techniques more intact valuable minerals can be extracted and sold for higher prices. As Rachel stated in the question the "surprising" benefactor of this will be the country who pours more and more tax dollars into it as an investment tools to later reap the rewards. This is all a side bar, it is clic Washington smoke and mirrors cause the while all of you sit and talk about gleaming gems, and battery power from Afghanistan, they are building the Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline from the Caspian sea for oil and natural gas exports from Pakistan's southern ports. We have to reap the rewards of stripping others of their natural resources for our own benefit. Given I don't want the US to be the next 3rd world, so I'm on the fence about the practices in raping nations to save our own interests.
