Why do we give Grammy's to people who do not compose their own music?

i've never watched an awards ceremony and never will. It's fake they are fake, the awards don't mean anything, they should be given too people who actually achieve something like climb k2 with no legs or discover a cure for cancer, they shouldn't be given to some selfish greedy court jester who is only in it for the fame and cash.
