Virgin Mobile X-TC Phone Constant Beeping When I get emails or ims on yahoo?

I get a loud beeping noise about every few minutes alerting me about a new email or IM on yahoo. Tech support at Virgin has been no help to turn off the beep. I checked all the fone settings. The only way to stop the loud beep is to shut the fone. When i retsrt it.. the beep starts.
